Your Counsellor and/or Life Coach will always be an experienced professional with the necessary education and working experience in the helping fields. We build strong relationships with our clients to work toward a common goal of healing, on your terms.  We are your Compassionate Guides, here to assist you in overcoming obstacles so that you may get back to living your life in the way You want to.

CREDENTIALS

When you meet with your Helper, they will not be wearing an I.D. tag, to protect your privacy, however, they will have one with them. The tag includes their photo, confirmation that they are a member of the Coffee With Counselling Team, their title(s), educational details, and registration number(s). Please do not be shy about asking to see your Helper's I.D. tag, or asking them questions about their experience and background when you first meet. We recommend that you do this no matter where you seek out assistance for anything involving your health and well-being - Always be sure of who you're receiving help from!

HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE

We know that in this economy, many people do not have Health Insurance Benefits, and that even for those that do, the coverage is sometimes minimal; even with coverage that is more comprehensive who and what is covered will vary depending upon the Insurance Carrier. Some companies who provide coverage (or partial coverage), for Mental Health assistance will only cover Psychiatrists (Medical Doctors who specialize in Mental Illness), others will cover also cover Psychologists (Mental Health Doctors with a Ph. D in Clinical Psychology), and some will cover Therapists, Counsellors, or Life Coaches, however, may require the minimum of a Master's Degree (M.A.), in their field or a field directly related to the type of work they do. Please never assume that Health Insurance Benefits will cover your sessions - always check with your Insurance Carrier first to see what and who they cover, what percentage of fees they cover, and for how long they will provide coverage (e.g. up to 10 sessions per year). While most of our Helpers have the minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.), some have College Diplomas, or Certificates. However, it is the combination of work experience and education that determines who is accepted onto our team, along with their proven professional ability, their empathy and compassion for others, and their work ethic (character). If your Insurance Carrier does cover your particular Helper, please bring any required forms that you need us to complete to your first session OR email scanned copies to us if you have chosen to receive help Online, via Chat or Email.

BOOKING SESSIONS

The first step in booking a session is to go to our Contact Page and complete, then submit, the Email Form.

Let us know what you hope to achieve through Counselling and/or Life Coaching in your email, give us your first name only, and the closest major intersection to your home.

 

We will do our best to match you with the Helper we feel is the best fit, and then email you back with your Helper's name and a Consent Form for you to complete and return to us. We must have your Informed Consent to provide our services to you following our policies and procedures, in keeping with Privacy Laws in Ontario, Canada, and to ensure you have read and agreed to this working relationship.

Once we receive your completed and signed Consent Form...

 

We will arrange a time and date to meet you at a local coffee shop, diner, patio, park, or another public location that you find calming, and that allows for enough space for as much Privacy as possible, or Online via Email or Chat. For chat sessions, you will be given a password to enter a locked page on our site, where you will find our chatroom. Please always make your payment first (same day), then login 5 minutes prior to the start of your session time, so that we never start late. Please use Google Chrome when using Chat and making Payments on our website as it is the browser that is least glitchy (it is free to download for your computer, cell phone, or tablet).

 

WALK N' TALKS

If you are someone who feels more comfortable on the move, even when it comes to conversations, we offer 1 hour "Walk N' Talk" Sessions where we simply take our coffee or tea to go, and walk while we work together to help you make the changes you want to see happening in your life. The fee is the same, and we can walk around the city streets or a nice park (some people even find cemeteries very calming places to walk through). The important thing is that you are comfortable, that we can hear each other, and while we're still in public, we have enough space around us for privacy. Being closer to nature is also very healing for all people.

 

Not everyone who would like some guidance or support with the challenges we sometimes face in life wants to go into a clinic, office, or hospital setting for help. Sometimes, a more relaxed, informal setting can put one's mind at ease and make it easier to talk and to discover solutions. We offer our Clients this alternative by meeting at a local Downtown Toronto coffee shop or cafe, finding a private table, and having conversations over coffee or tea. We also meet at parkettes, cozy diners, and quiet corners in bookstores. Sessions are $60.00 for 1 hour, and in person payments are accepted through Square by Apple using our tablet (Visa, Mastercard, Debit Card), or in cash, at the start of each appointment, and you simply sign with your finger, and receive an email or text receipt immediately afterward from Square.

For those clients who prefer email or online help through chat, which can be done from anywhere, we also offer 1 hour sessions for $60.00, or 1/2 hour sessions for $30.00 (as there are no travel costs involved, we are able to provide this option) however, clients may go to our payment page here on the site to use the PayPal Button (just click and follow the steps 15 minutes prior to a scheduled session). You do not have to have a PayPal Account to use the button. Once you select your session length from the drop down menu, a new page will give you the choice of paying from a PayPal Account if you do have one, however, below that you will see the option to pay by credit/debit card.

DOUBLE SESSIONS

Available to both In-Person & Online Clients, a Double Session is 2, 1hour sessions back-to-back (discounted to $50.00 per hour for a total of $100.00), for those times when a sudden event or life change occurs where a Client may want a longer time slot to work through the initial emotional impact with their Helper.

 

New Clients should first contact us through our Contact Form to give their first name, information on the help they are seeking, and to book their first session.  We will match you with who we feel may be the best fit for you from our team, send you a Consent Form to complete and return to us (we must receive this form back from you before we may start working together, as it is a legal agreement between Helper and Client covering matters such as Privacy/Confidentiality, risks to Breaches of Privacy while online and in public settings, our fee(s) and session length, as well as our general working policies. We need your Informed Consent, as this is a legal agreement confirming that you understand, and agree with, the way we will work together, and give your permission for us to go ahead. Once we receive this form back, we will book your session. PLEASE NOTE: We require 24 hours notice should you need to cancel a session. As we may be able to offer the slot to another person in need of help, if given enough notice, we charge a $30.00 cancellation fee if a full 24 hours notice is not provided to us (this is half the session fee you would have paid, which we feel is fair).
